 Autumn Term 2016

Dear Pupil and Parent,

Welcome to the Autumn Term! We have an exciting and busy term ahead of us. Our theme this term is 'Electric Rainbow'. We will be talking about colour, rainbows, light and dark, moon and stars and electricity. We hope to spend a lot of time in our ‘Rainbow Room’, exploring colour! We will also be looking at the season of Autumn, and talking about Harvest and Christmas.

 Information:-

Gym or a Wellie Walk will normally be on a Thursday morning. Your child needs to wear appropriate clothes to school on this day.
* burgundy/dark grey/black jogging bottoms (shorts in warm weather)
* white polo shirt or school house colour t-shirt (if your child has been allocated one)
* trainers.

'Wellie Walks' and 'Wellie Play' - please could you leave Wellington boots in school. This will enable us to go outside in damp conditions. We have wet weather outfits for the children to wear in school. As part of this we may take the children for supervised walks around the local area e.g. to the shops. You will have signed a consent form for these walks when your child started Nursery. If you are a new pupil please find a form attached. This will give us the freedom of opportunity for these experiences throughout the Foundation Phase (Nursery to Year 2).

We collect a £1.00 donation of 'snack money' every Monday, in order to provide your child with a drink and fruit in school. We also collect donations half termly or termly. Any surplus funds enable us to purchase resources for the pupils and classroom.

We have a 'Special' book in class, where we record events important to the children.  If they take part in a special event e.g. wedding, new baby, meet someone famous etc. please send in a photo for us to copy and we will talk about it and put it in the book. At times a colour or shape of the week will be displayed on the Nursery notice board which they may bring into school to show and tell (just the once!), this is located outside the main Nursery entrance.

A weekly newsletter is put on our school website every weekend for you to find out about all forthcoming events. Our new Nursery class page on there will be updated through the year with information and pictures. Also, don’t forget to follow our school Twitter account for regular news!

Library book scheme for Nursery - your child will be able to choose a library book from class every Friday to take home, to share with you. This should be returned the following
Wednesday. Pupils will also take turns bringing home our story sacks throughout the year. If your child has any magazines they have finished with, we would love to have them for our book corner. Please do not put any letters or money that you wish us to receive into book bags, as they are not opened until Thursday each week when books are changed.

Vicar Bodycombe holds St Matthew's Family Church service once a fortnight in the school. Details are on the weekly school newsletter on our website. This is a very child friendly service which lasts about 45 minutes. Children stay with their  parents throughout. The children receive a blessing from the Vicar (and chocolate buttons!)  Everyone in the community is welcome to join us. It would be lovely to see you there.

Please inform a member of staff if someone we are unfamiliar with is to collect your child.  If you have any queries or concerns, please do not hesitate to come in and see us at any time. Parents and teachers working together can achieve the best for the child.

                                                      Thank you for your help and support
